Alain Legros, “Montaigne, poetry. ‘Je l’aime infiniment’”
Although he turned to poetry quite soon, Montaigne perceived himself as a minor poet. On the contrary, he was a reliable judge and really appreciated the other poets more for their powerful inspiration than for their technique. Without neglecting both French and Italian authors, he refers to ancient and neo-latin poets. Montaigne ’ s declarations about poetry make us think of Rimbaud ’ s poetic brilliance as well as of the Surrealist searing intensity. Nevertheless, just like Nerval later on, Montaigne also appreciates a more popular poetry.
Keywords: Ancient history, poets, lightning, thought, vigour, lightness, quotations.
Dario Cecchetti, « Petrarca modello della poesia neolatina in Francia.
494Dario Cecchetti, “Petrarch as a model for Neo-Latin poetry in France. The humanist rediscovery of the pastoral eclogue”
The discovery of two Latin eclogues by Gerson and Clamanges demonstrates the influence of Petrarch ’ s Bucolicum Carmen in the decade between 1381-1383 and 1394 that saw the formation of one of the main centres of Humanism in Europe. In this article we study the structure of the two eclogues, analysing the stylistic interventions, aimed at the creation of a Latin that overlaps classical language and biblical language.
Keywords: Petrarch, Gerson, Clamanges, eclogue, prehumanism.
Michel Arouimi, “Klemperer on Rimbaud’s paths”
Victor Klemperer, has studied the perversion of German langage during the Third Reich. In april 1945, some pages of this Diary recall his travel of ten days through Germany. Many “keywords” in these pages can be found again in some letters written by Rimbaud in Harar; the same in his short “Diary”: “From Harar to Warambot”, in april 1891. The formal harmony of these pages of Klemperer, is as surprising as in this Rimbaud ’ s “diary”.
Keywords: Rimbaud merchant, Victor Klemperer, Second World War, Harar, Germany, writer ’ s diary, symmetry of form, numbers, cipher.
Silvia Giudice,“Beautiful, harmonious, mysterious. About Baudelaire’s and Valéry’s female self-praise”
Baudelaire ’ s “La Beauté” and Valéry’s La Jeune Parque are analysed from the perspective of the diversions of the woman’s poetic praise topos. The comparative study interrogates the choice of a female poetic subject by two male poets, as well as the forms and issues of the self-praise that the female figure expresses. She is the absolute otherness, mysterious and harmonious, and seems to embody some of the most ambiguous fundaments of Baudelaire’s and Valéry’s poetics.
Keywords: Baudelaire, Valéry, female praise, female poetic subject, otherness.

Sylvestre Clancier, by entering into poetry, entered into resistance against everything that enslaves man and the world. The poet having invested himself in the service of the man, the art and the environment, demonstrated, by his positions, that he was above 497 all a poet deeply inhabited by a faith in the man and that, far from a destructive and dominant positioning, he also wanted to defend the cause of the planet and the cosmos.
Keywords: humanism, human, resistance, benevolence, commitment, community, environment, planet, ecopoethics.
Martin Zeugma, « Paul Valet.
Martin Zeugma, “Paul Valet. ‘Could I give you something larger that my emptiness?”
Paul Valet ’ s life is a 20th century allegory. Born in a bourgeois Jewish family, of a Polish mother and a Ukrainian father, he grew up in Russia during the Revolution. An outstanding pianist, he arrived in France very young, ready for an international career. But instead, he started long studies. His parents, who returned to Poland, passed away in Auschwitz. He spent his life as a working-class suburban doctor, a fierce Resistance fighter, and a poet as prodigious as he was misunderstood.
Keywords: Paul Valet, poetry, France, postwar, identity, exile.
498Nicolas Grenier, “Monaco, a poetic rock”
The sun of the South seduces poets even on the Côte d ’ Azur. Since the Middle Ages, the rock of Monaco has been on the shores of the Mediterranean Sea. This cosmopolitan city is all luxury, calm and voluptuousness, between Good and Evil. The Monegasque fortress which is a paradise and a hell seems to be a daughter of Babylon. The casino, which is a temple of gambling, love and chance, becomes a prison for tourists in Monte-Carlo.
Keywords: Monaco, Monte-Carlo, Grimaldi, Mediterranean, Côte d ’ Azur, principality, poetry, casino, billionaire, sea.
M. J. Muratore, “The Perils of the Poem Deconstructed. Decolonizing Wordsworth’s ‘Daffodils’”
Kincaid ’ s dismantling of a poetic invocation of daffodils stands as an irredeemable act of scriptural mutilation and disfiguration. By a process of semiotic conversion and distortion, Wordsworth ’ s poem is transmuted into a wayward sign of yesteryear ’ s underbrush. We are thus confronted with the postmodern intertwisting of the signifier and the signified, an entanglement that repeals and nullifies any marker of poetic sustenance.
Keywords: metonymy, deconstruction, poetics, post-colonialism, Wordsworth, Kincaid.
Irene FernándezAranaz, “A new scene. The window in francophone poetry in times of pandemic”
The window, that format like a blank page or canvas, has served painters and writers as a frame and a tool to bring us closer to the outside world and our own inner selves. This space represents the antithesis between the confinement of human beings and their desire for freedom. The symbolism of the window opening outwards and the window looking inwards will be the subject of this study in French-language poetry in times of pandemic.
Keywords: poetics, coronavirus, window, identity, otherness, francophone.

Giuseppe Langella, “Terminal realism and the twentieth-century tradition”
Since its origins, the poetic movement founded by Guido Oldani in 2010 has clearly distanced itself from the lyrical, Petrarchan, self-referential and Orphic tradition of the last century. By reinterpreting the old poetics of the object in the horizon of the 502 highly technological and artificial reality in which we live, Terminal Realism refers, if anything, in some respects, to the authors who were the first to focus on the civilization of machines, particularly Marinetti, Pirandello and Svevo.
Keywords: Terminal Realism, Oldani Guido, poetics of the object, futurism, inverted similitude, Pirandello Luigi – Shoot! The Notebooks of Serafino Gubbio Cinematograph Operator, Svevo Italo – Zeno’s Conscience.
Paolo Lagazzi, « Lucciole, fiamme, specchi, stemmi, bagliori »
Paolo Lagazzi, “Fireflies, flames, mirrors, coats of arms, flashes”
In his most recent book (“The faces of Hermes”, Moretti & Vitali editori) Lagazzi wanders, free from any pretense of a theoretical nature, among the different aspects of magic – from conjuring to alchemy, from divination to astrology – discovering and rediscovering in how many ways poetry sinks into the roots of magic.
Keywords: faces of Hermes, magic tricks, threshold between the visible and the invisible, a bow to the mystery of the world, poetry.
Franco Sepe, « L’infermità in versi. Corpo, malattia e degenza ospedaliera nelle poesie di Amelia Rosselli, Alda Merini, Attilio Bertolucci, Valerio Magrelli, Antonella Anedda e Patrizia Valduga »
503Franco Sepe, “Infirmity in verse. Bodies, illness and hospitalization in the poetry of Amelia Rosselli, Alda Merini, Attilio Bertolucci, Valerio Magrelli, Antonella Anedda and Patrizia Valduga”
In this critical review, I attempt to explore affinities and differences between six well-known Italian poets ranging from the 1960s to the present. These poets each draw on either their own direct experience of infirmity or the illness of a family member. The review offers ample space to the poets ’ texts, which vary in tone and style, and in the way they give voice to the suffering, anguish, and isolation typical of a hospital stay.
Keywords: poetry, physical and mental illness, hospital, biography and experience, stylistic variety.
Lino Angiuli, Carlo Alberto Augieri, « Dialogando s’impara »
Lino Angiuli, Carlo Alberto Augieri, “You learn by talking”
Two poets of the same age, friends for half a century, try to sum up their own poetic experience, also in order to evaluate the contribution that their generation, crossed by the seventy-eight moods, is able to deliver to today ’ s young poets. The dialogue takes place without didactic poses but with the common intention of exchanging experiences to share with anyone interested in reflecting on poetry.
Keywords: dialogue, generation, experience, sharing, poetry.
Aldo Gerbino, « “La vita interna musicale”.
Aldo Gerbino, “‘Internal musical life’. From the Mediterranean poetry: Odours, sounds, atmospheres”
Synaesthesia is seductive when, pushed by its neuronal station, becomes the creative agent that makes visible the phisycality of verses by capturing sounds, odours, palmar tactilities. In so doing, an internal music constitutes an inner environment, a sort of system, that is able to reach cellular profundities joined in with olfactory currents, and chromatic cuts. Poets, as Cardarelli and Gadda, or as De Filippo and Piccolo, present traces of a large soundscape which are related to each other and are multi-sensory, ready to solicit our sensorium.
Keywords: synaesthesia, odours, soundscape, bioatmospheres, Lucio Piccolo.
Mario Iazzolino, « Poeti dialettali calabresi. Ciardullo (Michele De Marco) »

The most important poet of the territory of Cosenza is Michele De Marco (Ciardullo). On the centenary of his birth and the thirtieth anniversary of his death (1884-1954), the Opera Omnia, divided in Poems, Theater and Satires, was published. His poems arouse images of a living reality: how to forget the verses of Povariellu and ‘A castagna. In the theater he is considered a forerunner of the motivations and the right of women to experience love. Satires are a novelty.
Keywords: poems, theater, satires, dialect, Calabria.
Daniele Maria Pegorari, “The prophet and organized society. On la ‘Poesia della tradizione’ by Pasolini
The centenary of Pasolini ’ s birth saw his transformation into a pop ‘ icon ’ , devoid of protesting force. But he predicted it prophetically: after 1968 his works denounce the ability of neo-capitalism to extinguish revolutionary movements, not by repression, but by ‘ administration ’ . Commenting on a lyric by Trasumanar e organizzar, this essay identifies in the critique of the ‘technical organization’ of society the culminating point of Pasolini’s thought.
Keywords: Pasolini, prophetism, technocracy, tradition, conformism.
Maria Leo, “The ‘and’ in the poetry and thought of Giovanni Dotoli”
In this study, we propose to highlight the importance of the morpheme “and” in Giovanni Dotoli ’ s poems. We will try to show that the “and”, which punctuates and marks the discourse in a strong way, plays an essential role not only at a level of cohesion but also as a representation that characterises the poet who leans towards the Other.
Keywords: conjunction, cohesion, Other, love, fraternity.
Raffaele Messinese, “The ancestral towards… the future. Carlo Stasi’s visual poetry in the Salento dialect”
Forty years after the publication of the first visual poem in the Salento dialect, Alle cave (At the quarries) in the book La Speranza (The Hope, 1984), the texts in vernacular included in the visual poetry anthology Verso… il futuro (Towards/Pour… the future (2021) tangibly embody the ancestral that goes “towards the future”. Carlo Stasi’s unprecedented challenge lies in the ability to revitalize acoustic and symbolic objects of the peasant language in a modern epic through the verbo-visual synthesis of the calligram.
Keywords: vernacular, poetry, calligram, visual, Salento, Carlo Stasi.
