Interactions between the penance of the agens and the palinode of the auctor Notes on repentance in Dante’s Commedia

Repentance, mainly in its Christian meaning of penitential itinerary of conversion, can be considered as the “fil rouge” of the autobiographic macrotext constituted by Vita Nova, Convivio and Commedia. This assumption, which focuses on interaction between the repentances of Dante “agens” and the palinodes of Dante “auctor”, could confirm or invalidate some interpretations of a series of controversial passages of the Commedia (and especially of the Purgatory).
