The Pézard’s holdings of the College de France stands out with drafts, clean-ups, typing and translation proofs of Vita Nuova. It illustrates Pezard’s translatological conscience, the scientific scope and his philological, genetic and poetic rigor. It makes us question the life and work of a translator-philologist who changed his attitude to translating from 1953 to 1965. The study of the pre-texts showcases the modalities of his ante litteram post-structuralist approach.
