Le Neveu de Rameau and contradiction: On the first debate between Me and Him

This article tries to evaluate the nature and the scope of the contradictions between ME and HIM in their first debate. It becomes clear that the latter: 1) sets the essential themes of the work, 2) immediately tracks back to compare the Enlightenment and anti-Enlightenment, 3) ensures the victory of ME, 4) belies the popular idea that this is a directionless text, and 5) reveals the condemned usefulness of paraphrase.
