Although most references to Kantian philosophy may not be visible at first sight, as it is often encrypted in the writing of the novel, Proust attaches great importance to ­Kant’s critical works. By assigning them a paradigm function, even an innovative role in our visual habits, Proust develops an aesthetic of the sublime that this study wishes to retrace.
