From the first pages of À la recherche du temps perdu, the reader discovers that the Narrator takes charge of the intrusion of laconic stories into the fabric of the narrative to illustrate what can be incomprehensible. These “short narratives” create a certain allotopy in the narration since they carry different themes and are different from the isotopy of the context. This type of short narrative plays a figurative role and is close to Proustian analogical discourse.
