Based on the conviction that the collection constructed by Bertrand plays on a chiaroscuro narrative dimension, this work tries to tell one of its many possible stories. It offers a glimpse of a “cycle of fire” whose reflections shed light on a critical vision of the Middle Ages, with a focus on the characters who were victims of the Inquisition and of all forms of power that entrain intolerance.
