The novel Le Fleuve détourné offers us a journey into the past. Linearity is set aside to give way to a language of ambiguity, uncertainty and anonymity, which generates a feeling of confusion. The characters become less important and space description is the object of depreciation with a double view to painting a bleak picture in keeping with reality and creating a feeling of doubt and disappointment.
