Marguerite Duras et Tsushima Yūko Sur la mer des ténèbres

Born in 1947, the Japanese writer Tsushima Yūko was almost a ­contemporary of Marguerite Duras. Having lost her father to drowning, Tsushima had always been attracted to the aquatic world, which she explores in many novels. This article suggests ­comparing these two female writers to better understand all the avatars–dreams and nightmares–engendered by aquatic imagery.
