  • Abstract: At first glance, L’Attentat by Yasmina Khadra demands to be read as the stylization of the barbarity of a cold-blooded killer enamored with spilling blood on the pretext of saving souls. Looking closer, however, aren’t the real stakes of this novel found in the rhetoric of vicious waiting offered up as a strategy of demythification of suicidal militancy in a rotten universe where everything needs to start over? In three parts, the novel shows how it is better to praise life than to exalt death.
