Two Persians arrive in Paris in 1711 to observe how the French live. Under the covers of this simple story, Usbek and Rica produce a satirical portrait of a society at the dying end of a reign and during the Regency, casting a simultaneously naive and critical look on numerous French and Persian institutions.
