Fictions familiales versus récits de filiation
Pour une topographie de la famille en littérature

  • Publication type: Article from a collective work
  • Collective work: Le Roman contemporain de la famille
  • Author: Viart (Dominique)
  • Abstract: This article proposes a generic approach to the different forms of familial narrative, considered in relation to major critical figures and envisaged diachronically. Challenging Marthe Robert’s term “familial novel”, this topography establishes several categories of writing: the family novel, family sagas, the domestic novel, etc. The study distinguishes the principal characteristics of the tales of filiation which construct a veritable “ethics of restitution”.
