The manuscripts of Nouvelles Impressions d’Afrique, now available to the public, reflect Raymond Roussel’s image as one of the most exacting writers in the history of French literature. Genetic reconstruction of the Roussellian work site allows us to visualize a particularly laborious writing process and to identify the main thrusts of the author’s inquiries.
