Francis Carco worked to build an apparatus in his novels that is specific to him from a narratological and stylistic point of view: plots that privilege relationships of domination and submission make the characters evolve in confined and asphyxiating spaces, a rarefied atmosphere that is reflected by an impoverishment of images that can be explained by a deliberate strategy that reinforces the few leitmotivs conjoined with the persona of the author.
