Is it possible today to imagine staging Le Sexe faible, the play composed by Louis Bouilhet in 1864–1865 and taken up and completed after the latter’s death by his faithful friend Flaubert? Flaubert never managed to have the play performed, and it became what is called an “ours” in French theatrical jargon: a work that is impossible to stage. Sylvain Ledda, a director and specialist in nineteenth-century theater, has agreed to look into the case of this “ours.”
