En route vers Spinoza. Le Origo et fundamenta religionis christianæ de Martin Seidel

The treatise of Martin Seidel, Origo et fundamenta religionis christianæ, probably composed at the very end of the sixteenth century, represents a particularly interesting case of philosophical clandestinity that prepared the way for Spinoza’s work. After an analytical presentation of the clandestine work, this article offers a comparative study of the work of Seidel and the ideas of Spinoza; it attempts to situate this little-known author in the context of the philosophical ideas of his time.
