A scented play presupposes a collaboration between director and perfumer so that adequate smells can be created and they can be integrated into the ­actors’ performance. Laurence Fanuel analyses the experience of the off-piste perfumer which led her to ‘­odorise’ Les Parfums de ­l’âme, as well as the movement of synergy between her art and that of the director Violaine de Carné.
