Annotating Rabelais with the help of Montaigne On two borrowings from Suetonius in Gargantua

This article outlines a number of aspects of Nicolas Buffet and his widow’s production process, before analyzing a corpus of four texts printed in their workshop. The corpus includes two satirical collections published in 1549 (the fake Fifth Book and a Catalogue des malheureux written by a student of Pantagruel) and copies of the Third and Fourth Books printed in 1552 under the false address “maître Jehan Chabin.” The contribution concludes with a commentary on an unexpected reference to a Seventh Book of Pantagruel.
