Numerous studies have examined Rabelais’s passion for lists and enumerations in all their forms. Here we take up this question from two perspectives: firstly from a genetic point of view, and then in seeking to follow the general evolution of lists from one book to another. The ever-greater diversity of forms taken by these shows us how Rabelais explores the richness of a type of writing that is at once textual and editorial.
