This article offers a variation on the fundamental places and motifs in Jean-Claude Pirotte’s writing, “the tricks of memory, the absolute nostalgia for childhood, the processes of ineluctable physical degradation”. It lets the singular and obsessive music of Pirotte’s sentence be heard in its art of postponing, in the ellipses and drifts of its narrative modes.
