While opera was an important part of the repertoire of harpsichordists in the 17th and 18th centuries, today’s musicians focus on works composed specifically for harpsichord. Jean-Luc Ho explains how he integrates opera arrangements into routine as a keyboard musician, playing harpsichord and organ. This interview also highlights the effectiveness of opera transcription as a pedagogical tool.
