Marivaux’s Activity at the Comédie-Italienne through the Registers (1720-1788)

This article gives an overview of Marivaux’s activity at the Comédie-Italienne through the accounting Books. By evaluating the success of the twenty plays given to the Comédiens-Italiens between 1720 and 1740, specifically their success until 1788, it is possible to estimate Marivaux’s income and analyse their productions. Some of this data is compared with that of the Comédie-Française, which also took advantage of Marivaux’s work over this period.
