Thinking and fighting everyday oppression Sartre, Beauvoir, and the social sciences

The goal of this article is to shed historiographical light on the Sartrean analysis of oppression. It contends that Saint Genet, comédien et martyr is the result of a dialogue with feminism (Beauvoirian) and French sociology (Lévi-Straussian). Consequently, it questions the relationship between sociology and phenomenology, the latter generally considered to be a subjectivist approach incompatible with the objectivity of the social sciences.
