Emmanuel Levinas’s thought helps the caregiver, but perhaps not the manager

Confronted with the suffering of the patient, the caregiver shares this experience of leaving oneself where the Existing becomes a Being for the Other. The sense of responsibility for others expresses its strength, even and especially after death, precisely because the Other is mortal. This demanding relationship cannot be applied to all care and, from misuse of this thought, the caregiver becomes “guilty” of not being able to be available for each patient in the same way as for the suffering.
