Bernard Billaudot, “New insights on finance and responsible finance”
The purpose of this article is to understand the advent of « responsible finance », at the turn of the 21st century. Considering that one cannot study finance without taking into account the global society of which it is only a component, this understanding is made from a new perspective on a modern nation. This advent is one of the manifestations of the entry into crisis of this model of living together with the rise of the ecological question in the North and that of the social question in the South. It is also one of the building blocks of a social transformation project whose actualization would be an outcome « from above ». An essential place is given in the development of this thesis to radical uncertainty and to conventions which allow it to be reduced to risk.

Charles Daussy, Catherine Karyotis, “Cooperative banks. What assets to institutionalise CSR and change the paradigm?”
Beyond Freeman ’ s notion of stakeholder value, from Polanyian perspective, CSR – often limited to regulatory declarations – could put an end to abuses of financialization. The reconciliation of the values of cooperative banks (case of Crédit Agricole) and a new regulatory framework could institutionalize CSR through appropriation of new practices and going beyond the logic of opportunistic mercantile contracts.
Keywords: bank, co-operative values, normative CSR, institutionalization.

Dhafer Saïdane, Sana Ben Abdallah, “What causal relationship between financial stability and CSR? An Africa–Europe comparison”
The main objective of this paper is to compare the CSR behavior of European and African firms. In particular, it examines whether the CSR behavior of firms is linked to their financial stability. We tested this relationship using a panel vector autoregressive (PVAR) method. The study is based on a sample of 127 African companies and 519 European firms for the period 2010-2019. The results show that there is a unidirectional relationship between stability and CSR. For European firms, there is a positive and significant impact of CSR on stability. For African firms, stability contributes to the implementation of a sustainable development approach. In addition, our results reveal that there is a virtuous circle between governance dimension and the stability of European and African firms.

270Caroline Granier, Sandra Rigot, « La finance durable. Où en est la recherche académique ? »
Caroline Granier, Sandra Rigot, “Sustainable finance. Where does academic research stand?”
The financial crisis of 2007 called into question a certain number of paradigms in financial economics, leading to a redeployment of research towards finance that takes greater account of sustainable development objectives. The objective of this article is to review the state of the art of work on sustainable finance through a bibliometric analysis carried out using the WoS database over the period 1981-2018. Our analysis highlights a recent field of study, with a strong dispersion of authors and a concentration of publications in a small number of journals. Sustainable finance is structured around five themes: the performance of SRI funds, corporate social responsibility, the performance of responsible companies and indices on stock markets, the investment strategies of financial actors and the role of pension funds in sustainable development.

Renaud du Tertre, “Intangible resources of the company and sustainable development”
A company ’ s intangible resources constitute a powerful lever that enables it to commit to sustainable development under two conditions. Firstly, it is necessary to “translate” the sustainable development objectives into operational terms through the adoption of the CSR approach. Secondly, it is necessary to integrate the planned development of intangible resources into the company ’ s business management tools, which are designed in terms of processes. These conditions presuppose the existence of an intangible resource evaluation framework, the characteristics of which the article examines at the institutional and operational levels.

Clément Carn, “What socio-environmental accounting says about our relationship to the world”
This paper focuses on socio-environmental accounting (SEA) methods in order to help inform the choice of both practitioners and standard setters. Through a comparative analysis of the main SES approaches, this paper highlights their different representations of the world and their implications for sustainability. We then show that the choices of accounting techniques reflect underlying representations of the world and shape the nature of accountability.
Keywords: socio-environmental accounting, responsibility, sustainability.
