TV series are explicitly linked to time and memory. Playing with their length, rules and expected effects has become familiar, as Jean-Pierre Esquenazi’s books show. After a survey of these characteristics, this study addresses the specific mechanism of the whodunnit structure, whose telic construction is based on its endings: stability, foreseeable nature, comforting endings and an inexhaustible source of potentially subversive stories based on the daydreamings of traces.
