It begins with Cortázar and asks the anthropological question of the relationships between cinema and illegibility, starting from the reactions that a first reception of the cinema has engaged between cinema and prinery. After a detour through the question of the becoming of the readable in the cinematographic image, we come back to the distinction between visible and readable by reminding ourselves that it is always a presupposition of the language, and that the visible, the unspeakable, the solely visible, is not situated in exteriority to language but in language itself.
