“Le Vieux Port” and the first two “Rhapsodies gitanes” of L’Homme foudroyé were supposed to be published in 1944 by “Jean Vigneau editor”. This article seeks to understand why these deluxe editions were not released before 1946, one year after the publication of the complete work by Denoël. Exploring Cendrars’ correspondence with Vigneau gives us a better understanding of their difficult working conditions at the end of the Second World War, and to discover the hidden aspects of the delicate “affaire Vigneau”.
