“An anthology of your poems” Guy Tosi and the first bilingual edition of Blaise Cendrars’ poems

In 1961, a few weeks after Cendrars' death, the first collection of poems translated by the poet Luciano Erba appeared at Nuova accademia editrice in Milan. As with the translation of L'Or, published by Daria Guarnati in 1959, it was through the mediation of Guy Tosi that this book was published. However, these publications do not seem to respond to an editorial strategy. Having left his role as editor at Denoël and become Director of the French Institute in Florence, Tosi mobilises his relations around his friendship for the writer and does his best to make him known in Italy, as shown by the great event organised in his honour in Florence on the occasion of the translated poems' publication.
