We offer a digital and cartographic approach to Carmen, which will allow us to reread Mérimée’s novella in light of the occasionally imaginary, almost elusive geography that gives it its tempo. We hope to problematize an often excessively facile reading of this text and to open up a broader perspective by using mapping technologies that can change our understanding of the space, the characters, and the geographical issues at play in this work.
