This article revisits the little-known life of the publisher Léon Genonceaux. Until Gérard Tasset’s recent research, nothing was known about the astonishing transformation of the man who, in 1890, republished Les Chants de Maldoror and edited Rimbaud’s Le Reliquaire before fleeing to England to escape the law. Genonceaux still had half a century left to live.
