This article traces the critical development of the figure of Lautréamont in Maurice Blanchot’s critical work from the 1940s. More specifically, it seeks to understand how this figure became a figure of remembrance, i.e., a symbolic figure which, through its various hermeneutic incarnations, has endured in the literary memory of the Blanchot reader while expressing the historical singularity of its reading framework.
