In this article, Jean-Luc Steinmetz analyzes the family scene interrupted by Maldoror, in stanza eleven of the first song, comparing the different versions, as well as song VI, by illuminating certain intertextualities. Finally, he discusses the issue of homosexuality in the Chants, by looking at the figures of Édouard Dazet and Louis d’Hurcourt.
