Rather than entering into the endless controversies around the meaning of the term “classical style,” we adopt Louis Jouvet’s simple definition: “a work is a classic if it engages its public, whatever the time or place.” With the help of data on the commercial success of Giraudoux’s work, we survey the years 1944–2014 in order to try to answer the question, “will Giraudoux’s work live on?”
