Late-medieval visionary experiences and the construction of the “revealed fact” Jean Gerson and the case of Bridget of Sweden

Focusing on the work of Jean Gerson (1363-1429), this article examines the conventions governing the construction of the experiential knowledge of late-medieval visionaries as an epistemological, social and political problem. Gerson's contribution to the evaluation of the authenticity of visionary testimonies will be analysed through the case of Bridget of Sweden (1303-1373).
