This study investigates the polysemy of “French body-part terms” (Npc). We aim at identifying contextual meanings using syntactical and lexical criteria. Then, we label sets of contextual meanings (i.e. word senses) using relevant non-linguistic categories. This leads to an ordering of Npc senses taking advantage of the six following notions: necessary part, quality, state, person, quantity and zone.
