This article examines the characteristics of the Romanticism of Charles Nodier, whose definition of which was influenced by his reading of Byron’s poems, revealing the writer’s admiration for the poet as well as his reservations about him. It aims to show that Nodier, in emphasizing his own conception of spiritualism, attempts to overcome the spiritual impasse of Byron’s thinking in order to formulate his own Romantic principles.
