“I now know what it is to be Me” The Intimate in Claudel’s Biblical Commentaries

The biblical commentaries are, in the Claudelian corpus, the place where the vocabulary of the intimate is most present. This article explores the Claudelian conception of the "intimate", which is much closer to the classical meaning of the term than to its contemporary meaning. As the depths of the soul, the place of spiritual interiority, the "intimate" is par excellence the place where the personality is abolished to make room, in communication with the Other, for the true nature of the child of God of every Christian.
