Creator of the role of Prouhèze at the Opéra national de Paris, Ève-Maud Hubeaux looks back on the exceptional nature of this role: the apprenticeship, the rehearsals and the performances in an unprecedented context, the length and difficulty of the score, the technical mastery, the emotion, the physical experience of exhaustion.
Pascal Lécroart, “From the Libretto to the operatic dramaturgy”
The libretto conceived by Raphaèle Fleury from Claudel’s drama is in keeping with the tradition of the genre: a shortened version of the original work in order to compensate for the lengthening produced by the song and the music. Nevertheless, beyond its skill, the work on the text bears a particular dramaturgy designed to meet that of the composer. The article thus analyses the choices made in this operatic homage to Le Soulier de satin, as much concerned with the letter as with the Claudelian spirit.
Keywords: Le Soulier de satin, Marc-André Dalbavie, Libretto, Raphaèle Fleury, versions.
