Montaigne and the manuscript of the syndical procedure reform in Béarn (May 8, 1584)

Montaigne signed several judgements while at the Parliament of Bordeaux. There is, however, another manuscript stored at the Bibliothèque historique de la Ville de Paris seems to bear his personal signature. This document is a brief Advis on the reform of judiciary procedures in Bearn (May 8, 1584). This article recounts the history of this document, analyzes its content, and provides a transcription. It also questions the authenticity of the manuscript’s annotations.
