Louis de Bonald was instrumental in bringing about the abolition of divorce in France in 1816. This event was the culmination of a battle led since the beginning of the century by a counterrevolutionary thinker who deemed the indissolubility of marriage the “cornerstone of society.” All of his writings on the subject are collected here.
