Aurélien Demars, “Time out Between Rage and Death Rattle”
How can we still question time, so common and so obvious? We will try to restore the anguished effort of existential thoughts which wonder about time, when they feel the imminence of death, they look around their existence, they review their life and they relive what they did not know to see.
Keywords: affective time, death, instant, life review, negative eternity.
Rodolphe Olcèse, “In the Open. The Overcoming of the Soul, from Plato to Louis Lavelle”
This text aims to show how the soul can be considered from the question of its exceeding. Plato, Jan van Ruusbroec and Louis Lavelle think this movement of overcoming, 308not only as a potency but also as the condition of possibility of the existence of the soul. At the same time source and ultimate horizon of the soul, this movement of exit invites to apprehend this soul in its concrete meeting with the world.
Keywords: exceeding, transcendence, myth, Plato, Ruusbroec, Lavelle.
Erika Martelli, « “Tejer, destejer, mesteres”.
Erika Martelli, “‘Tejer, destejer, mesteres’. Roberto Bolaño Lecturer of Georges Perec”
Roberto Bolaño declares in many interviews his devotion towards Georges Perec who is described as central for his poetics. But which is the real relationship between the author of 2666 and the French writer? Through an analysis of the published and unpublished texts, we will try to give a first contribution to this field of research.
Keywords: Perec, Bolaño, lost child, poetry, lecturer.
Marc de Launay, « Il est toujours temps… »
Marc de Launay, “There is Always Time…”
Time is a blind spot of both philosophy and rational theology: both fail to identify its content. Seemingly it is better grasped by messianic eruptions, but here it takes the form 309of a proclamation or an invocation without a common measure with our historical lives. That is why it is important to identify the temporal articulation which constitutes the events we face and commands the way we see them and avoid the ambition of placing ourselves above history or have the ambition to predict them.
Keywords: time, history, messianism, katechon, theory of history.
Franck Colotte, “Ciceronian Reflections about the Notion of Time”
Cicero’s anthropological vision of time is based on a reflexive approach centered on man’s place in the universe and his relationship with nature’s time. Time nevertheless plays a determining role not only in the reflection, but also in the structure of the Ciceronian dialogues which follow in the footsteps of Socrates, who had descended the philosophy from heaven to earth. Cicero is interested in the human perception of time and in the changes which affect humans over time.
Keywords: tempus, aeternitas, Tusculanae disputationes, conscience, reflection.
310Arnaud Miranda, “What is Decadence? Epistemological Considerations”
If literary studies on the idea of decadence thrive, social sciences seem willingly to ignore it. How can we explain this disdain? And how could it be overcome? This article will demonstrate that the problem lays on a misunderstanding about the nature of decadence: it is not a fact nor a concept, but an essential category for our perception of time.
Keywords: decadence, decay, decline, imaginary, myth.
Laurent Balagué, “Time of Daydreaming, Daydreaming of Time”
The aim of this study is to the ties between time and daydreaming. The purpose is to show the peculiar meaning of time that daydreaming produces. Such an approach could be seen as quite weird since daydreaming is the opposite of a methodological approach. But difficulties don’t stop with this point. We will see that daydreaming prepares a double understanding of time: on one hand a psychological one, a cosmological on the other.
Keywords: aiôn, daydreaming, animus-anima, boredom, elements.
311Alexis Weinberg, “Write to Know Why/What to Write for. The Times of Writing, from the Avant-garde to the Contemporary Moment”
The essay evokes a conception of scriptural temporality typical of the literary avant-gardes of the 1960s and 1970s in France, symbolized by this formula: “write to know why/what to write for”. It examines some historical conditions of its genesis and outlines some contemporay consequences.
Keywords: writing, theory, narrative, hermeneutics, contemporary literature.
Anne-Laure Andevert, “Into the Mouth of Time. Boredom’s Tentacles in Some Works of Julien Green”
This article covers the ravages of time in a few novels by Julien Green. His characters give up every action and they let cyclic time carry them along. That shuts them into a vacuum and vanity-filled existence. The dullness of time paralyzes them and impersonates their finitude. Thus they are overcome by an existential and insidious dizziness that reveals the gaping vacuum of life.
Keywords: boredom, Julien Green, silence, time, vanity.
312Saber Idoudi, “The Question of Time in Valéry’s Notebooks”
Valéry thinks that the concept of a time is imprecise and confused. The need for a conceptual purification is prior to any reflection on this question. It should be specified whether by “time” we mean an internal intuition, an attribute of action or a form of understanding. Valéry opts for time as a sensation. Its essence is contrast. This conception is an explicit questioning of Kantian philosophy and Bergsonism.
Keywords: time, language, sensation, bergsonism, kantism.
Justine Brisson, « Barthes and Idiorrythmia. A Study of Carnets du voyage en Chine »
In 1974, Barthes travels to China with members of the French avant-garde literary magazine Tel Quel. His notes give an account of the discomfort he felt during this trip. In this article, we will show how this uneasiness is due to the imposition of a schedule that disrespects his subjective temporality. Barthes thus anticipates the “idiorrhythmic fantasy” he theorized two years later, during his first course at the Collège de France.
Keywords: idiorrythmia, solitude, temporality, schedule, uneasiness.
313Diane Château Alaberdina, “Nostalgia in the Novels of Jón Kalman Stefánsson”
Jón Kalman Stefánsson’s novels highlight a tireless quest for the past and nostalgia. Not being material objects, the vestiges of the past remain dependent on fragile consciences, subject to disappearing with death. Duration joins the existential crisis to become a narrative object, capable of bringing to light the diffracted consciousness of the fictional character.
Keywords: nostalgia, old age, memory, reminiscence, melancholy.
Michel Dion, “The Passing of Time in the Literary Works of Haruki Murakami”
The passing of time makes things, beings and phenomena change. We perceive their various forms, while being involved in the objectively perceived time and the subjectively felt time. Objective and subjective time is never homogeneous. In his novels and short stories, Haruki Murakami unveils the circular conjunction of the past, the present, and the future.
Keywords: Haruki Murakami, passage, objective time, subjective time, Henri Bergson.

Yves Leclair, “The Time of Feathers”
The poet plays on the unstoppable flight of time. In the maelstrom of its blind flux, he tries to filter what may give meaning to human life: the sheer or paradoxical beauty, whether it is familiar or exotic. He celebrates the discreet glittering of simple objects and people he meets: the hair of a stranger, the light of a mimosa in the winter, the brightness of a lemon. These reasoned moments temporarily resuscitate him from the misery of his existence as a more or less blind mortal.
Keywords: time, salvation, beauty, light, nudity.
Fabrice Farre, « Incantations »
315Fabrice Farre, “Incantations”
The unique experience of life is a succession of events. All of them are important, because we are mortal. So, time is tragical. But time doesn’t exist. His dizzying absence brings us back to our condition. His permanent presence in all of us compels to search for meaning, in a rational and absurd way at the same time.
Keywords: tragic, life, passage, duration, cycle.
Liliya Gazizova, “I Will Be a Lighthouse Guard”
These poems speak about the unattainable, about momentary states of the soul, about the unthinkable essence of life, about love suffocated by liberty or circumstances. It is a plastic poetry. It is characterized by a large linguistic range, a restricted emotivity, an apparent simplicity, paradoxical ends, a rich intonation and cinematographic images. There are no decorations of special effects. Only energy transformed by harmony.
Keywords: unreachable, solitude, images, love, unthinkable.

Keywords: Heliogabal, Marc Aurelius, Pascal, Montaigne, Balzac.
Inlassablement.
Mots-clés : présent, oubli, inconnu, attente, lumière.
Jean Gabriel Cosculluela, “Question of Time. (No oblivion, 4)”
Time is most often lost. How to take it without delay, out of the present? The form of oblivion or the unknown is to be tirelessly sought in the present. Carried away, we read in the heart of things. Only this passage of time remains, the present: it is the waiting of oblivion, it is the waiting of the unknown. It’s about waiting for the present. Tirelessly.
Keywords: present, oblivion, unknown, waiting, light.

Pierre Garrigues, “Sonnets on the Impossible Passage of Time”

318Marie Céhère, “Visions of Time and of Time Travelling in Pop Culture. Thoughts on the Dark Series”
Who wouldn’t like time-travelling? On that deep and human desire is based the scenario of the German series, Dark. It shall also be the basis of our general commentary of the philosophical tradition on time, its nature, and what allows us – or does not allow us – to strive to master, dominate and finally overcome the passage of time.
Keywords: time, physics, phenomenology, science-fiction, knowledge.
