Based on an analysis of the occurrences of a declaration of cosmopolitanism in Erasmus' work, the aim of this paper will be to examine the space – or spaces – considered by the Dutch humanist when he claims to be a citizen of the world, and to compare this position with other passages in his work in which he expresses an attachment to his natural homeland, but also often to chosen homelands, rejoining in the latter case a certain cosmopolitan outlook.
