Variety and the secret of nature in the poetry of Christofle de Gamon (1574-1622)

Christofle de Gamon’s work offers an example of scientific poetry in the late sixteenth and early seventeenth centuries. Through an analysis of three of his poems, « Le Jardin » (1598), « Discours de l’Astronomie inferieure » and « Le Tresor des tresors » (1600), this study aims to show the way in which Gamon expresses in verse the variety of Nature and its secrets, as well as the relation between natural and human forms of creative activity.
