The storytelling of human tragedies Novelizing reality through digital comic strip reports

Connecting storytelling and the romanesque allows us to better interpret the performativity of two digital narrative works. These comic strip reports offer visual representations of two tragedies (the 1988 Intifada and the 2013 Lac-Mégantic train accident), blending the realism of reportage and the narrative dramatization found in novelistic fiction. An operative concept of storytelling emerges, allowing for a certain interpretative framework of the represented events.
