Stupidity is the subject of a recurring denunciation where anger, derision and sarcasm are mixed. Gary attacks the supporters of dogmatism and hatred who, by stigmatizing idealism and forms of otherness, assign the human being in a normative and narrow image of himself. But stupidity also feeds on the excesses of blind militancy which, transforming commitment into an act of atonement, leads to the use of a cause to ease one's conscience and to lock oneself into sectarianism.
