Nerval wrote for the newspaper because it was the main activity that ensured his daily life. While he often managed to free himself to travel and write, he nonetheless remained a man of the press whose media culture was extensive, ranging from the way a newspaper is directed and produced to the mastery of its numerous microforms. In light of advances in media studies, this dossier aims to reexamine Nerval’s work from this perspective.
