This paper explores Pasolini’s Empirismo eretico, in which he proposes to “write a philosophy of cinema”. By defending the thesis that being is merely a codification of meanings, Pasolini asserts that the primary substance of being is language. The paradoxical and provocative meaning of this naturalization of language is the claim of the primacy of the nakedness of life as a source of poetry. As a result, Res sunt nomina is the founding act of bioaesthetics.
