With this title and its shades of Beckett, this project barely conceals its attempt to identify in Verne’s novels what might be an art of the ending. Between dramatic denouement and narrative clausula, between the logic of completion and the thought of becoming, the aim is to examine what the conclusions of Verne’s novels can teach us, not only about the way in which the narrative is constructed, but also about the philosophy of time and the vision of the (hi)story revealed in them.
