Rabelais, Rondibilis, and the cure for lovers according to Guillaume Rondelet

This article sheds new light on the links between the fictional character Rondibilis in Tiers livre (1546) and the historical figure Guillaume Rondelet (1507–1566), a doctor and naturalist. This rereading is based on heretofore unexploited source texts: Rondelet’s Methodus (1563), the 1568 biography devoted to him by his disciple Laurent Joubert, and a note by Charles Drelincourt Jr., a doctor trained in Montpellier, in his treatise De fœminarum ovis (1687).
